my sister has a cat:
i have a dog:
the cat has lived here for 9ish years, and hasn't had to share the house with any other animals. she's a titch neurotic, and i'm pretty sure has some PTSD from when my brothers still lived at home because everything startles her.
a week ago when i brought home a puppy, she did not fall in love. there was no youtube-worthy moment of cuddling animals, and when they got too close they both flipped out like electric shocks were pulsing through their bodies.
after a couple of days resisting the idea of having another animal around, the cat decided that fighting it was useless so she resigned herself to making sure the dog was always in sight. her neurosis turned into stalking.
at first we didn't notice, she was very subtle:
her cold and stealthy mannerisms didn't phase the dog, although she probably didn't care enough to pay attention. stupid animal, that's how you get got.
eventually it just became blatant as she soon realized subtlety wasn't necessary:
i guess she's finally taken whatever information her research gave her to be more accepting. she's nowhere near friendly but she's approaching.. but maybe it's just a tactic to make the dog feel safe so she can spring an attack and throw her out of the house.
